Pierre Pryor

Coach Pierre Pryor brings championship pedigree, unmatched intensity, and a true passion for developing young athletes to the Checkmat Charlotte kids wrestling program. A two-time Virginia state champion in high school, Pierre went on to compete at the collegiate level for NC State, where he became one of the program’s standout wrestlers.

During his time with the Wolfpack, Pierre competed primarily at 157 and 165 pounds in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He captured the 1999 ACC Championship at 157 pounds and remained a consistent conference contender throughout his collegiate career. His experience on some of wrestling’s biggest stages gives him a deep understanding of both the technical and mental sides of the sport.

In the room, Coach Pierre is known for his high energy, his ability to motivate, and the competitive mindset he instills in every athlete he teaches. Kids feed off his excitement from the moment he steps on the mats. He blends strong fundamentals with dynamic drilling and constantly reinforces the values of discipline, confidence, and hard work.

Whether a student is brand new to wrestling or already competing, Coach Pierre creates an environment where they can learn, grow, and believe in their potential. His presence has elevated the level of our youth program, and we are proud to have him guiding the next generation of athletes at Checkmat Charlotte.
