About Jill

Jillian Schnitzler is a dedicated black belt instructor at Checkmat Charlotte, having joined the academy in February 2019. Her journey through the ranks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu showcased exceptional commitment and skill, earning her the title of Checkmat Charlotte’s Competitor of the Year in 2021.

 

In 2024, Jillian achieved one of the highest honors in her career, winning the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship. Following this incredible accomplishment, she was promoted to black belt. Her competitive achievements include medaling at the world level across multiple belt ranks, such as earning silver at Adult No-Gi Worlds as a blue belt and bronze at Master Worlds as a purple belt. She has also won gold medals in both the featherweight and open weight divisions at the IBJJF Pan American Championship.

 

At Checkmat Charlotte, Jillian leads the Ladies Only Queen’s Class and assists with adult classes throughout the week, sharing her passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and her wealth of experience with students of all levels.

Checkmat Charlotte is amazing!! The talent and passion of this school is something you notice as soon as you walk in the door! These people are amazing at the art! Amazing school! The thing is you can get that at a lot of places in the area( albeit maybe not quite the level of tenacity that Professor Allen not only expects but also demonstrates) The thing that Checkmat Charlotte has is the community! I have only been here a short time but have met soo many encouraging teammates! And teammates that come alongside and teach inspire and challenge you to treat yourself well in this art and in life.
